Really inspired by the chatterjjee of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. Books like this make you think deep. I am sure it must be better written in Banki, with a deeper meaning and better style.
Translating Vande Mataram as a poem in to English is unreal and can never have the magical touch as Sanskrit. Vande mataram sounds better vhandra Mother I salute to thee.

The plot of the story, touches various segments of the pre-Independence India, whether it is the plight of the people during ananf Bengal Famine, where hunger turn humans to cannibals or the women’s equal participation in the revolutionary activities along their husbands.
The unjust tax policies had forced the people of Northern Bengal to ag “Anandmath” by Bankim Mah Chatterjee is one of those books which can never fail to precipitate the feeling of nationalism in the mind of an Indian reader.
The unjust tax policies had forced the people of Bnkim Bengal to agitate and qnand their agitation is elaborately symbolized in this book. The coming together of people and formation of a congress-ion to fight for their rights was given an interesting turn with the ascetic look and some radical behavior annand the revolutionaries.
This book is a national treasure of India owing to its simplicity of story telling, the way it expresses the tale of Indian freedom struggle. The passion in the people depicted in the book is quite relatable to one exhibited during the freedom struggle.
The book also highlights the sorry and devastated condition of the people during the Bengal Famine where the people had nothing to satisfy their hunger and all the riches possessed by people were merely a display of no actual use. The book states plight of people banikm the regions of famine hit poor India The people were depressed to an extent that giving up their life seemed a better option than living a life full of despair.
Just the mere love for family gave them the hope or reason to stay alive. The author also focused on the importance of celibacy to achieve the desired goals. To renounce the family bonding and focus on the goal is a necessity and the atonement for breaking this vow is only baankim penalty. It was indeed a book that gave me immense understanding about life of people in India in those days. I admit I would never have thought to read this book if it hadn’t been assigned for class. Chattefjee, even so, I thought it was a surprisingly good read.
Definitely poetic, but also with rather dense with descriptions of Hindu religious life. The introduction was a tough read, a very rigorous study of the text, but it was definitely helpful in understanding the importance of the novel. The author describes the sanaatan dharma for that time period through the words chatteerjee activities of Santaan-s. Excluding the last 5 pages which perhaps were written to bypass the British censure at the time, the book describes the condition of our beloved motherland and our duties for its upliftment. The Muslims could very well be substituted by the British and a message for independence struggle could be given very easily, and this hap Sanaatan dharma is dynamic and adapts to time and situation.
The Muslims could very well fhatterjee substituted by the British and a message for independence struggle could be given very easily, and this happened in form of Vande Matram becoming the battle cry for Bharat’s Independence struggle. The book is precious and no Indian worth her salt can be unbiased while writing a review of this gem of a book. We have been brought up singing ‘Vande Mataram’ which is a principal song of the sons; the protagonists. The book is also precious because it gives a glimpse of the life and times of Mth during Bankim Chandra. The view that English are ethical and neutral to the struggles of the common mass is amusing.
One can find traces of nascent Indian nationalism.

This is a book which needs to be read by every young Indian. Sad,I ananr imagine Bengal to be so nationalistic now.

Sep 23, Chattejree Maheshwari rated it really liked it Shelves: British rule has been admired.
The message to fight British is implicit as the author had to get the books through the British censor. The geet “Vande Matram” is highly energizing. Too bold of a writing, hard words. It gives insight of that time, what probably was going on. Simple read, but that sort of story at those situation, how sanyasi took upon himself and leading it, while they were just being coward and staying would probably would’ve hit some spark among young.
More books i’m reading, just seeing how other males look out women, the way they define makes me think, this is how all that work Too bold of a writing, hard words. More books i’m reading, just seeing how other males look out women, the way they define makes me think, this is how all that works, this is why all poems and stuff.
Realizing books seriously change the mindset, beautiful but makes me think. Solute and respect to this novel What a novel. I wonder if this really was written in As an indian everyone should read this novel i finished it in 2 days.
