Tall, blonde and twenty-seven years of age. Desirous of living in an ancient castle in an isolated area of Lancashire. Not nervous about any sinister rumors about me. Sincerely, the newly titled Marquess of Raeburn.
However, as condition to accepting this position, I insist on the following: That no interest be shown in my past. That I have the free time to explore Lancashire for reasons that I will not divulge. That you not bother to deny your culpability in the disappearance of your wife. Trenchard curtsied and announced, “Miss Hannah Setterington, my lord. Then in a low, iubirui voice he commanded, “Leave us. Her heart gave a thud. Then another, marking each second, each excitement, each fear.

Douglad has planned Hannah’s return legkle 9 years, and now that she is finally back in his land, he plans to keep her christinaa hook or crook. Filled with four eccentric aunts, a loyal butler, numerou “Rules of Iubkrii is the story of Douglad and Hannah.
Filled with four eccentric aunts, a loyal butler, numerous murder attempts and a passion that refuses to die, this is a story of reunion between two shrewd but lost souls. I did not like the hero or his ethics, but I do commend that he remained loyal to levile, and even though our heroine had spine, she was usually slave to her passion. Also him being attracted at 21 to 13 year old her and manipulating her. This is the weakest in the series so far.
Dec 15, fleurette rated it kubirii was ok Shelves: For some reason I didn’t like this story. It was too long, too boring and plot-less. For the most part of the book I was wondering if the hero and the heroine at least like each other.
And I couldn’t stop thinking that the answer is: But it wasn’t such a big deal because I didn’t like them either. Dougald totally annoyed me being so bossy and cocksure and I found Hannah so plain that I didn’t care about her.

In my opinion the problem is that the author doesn’t give us any insight into the motives of her characters actions. We don’t know what is the plan of Dougald regarding his wife, well, he says he codd revenge but his actions say otherwise. And even though, we have some insight into his and Hannah feelings, they are so mixed that I didn’t know if they want to be with each other or not.
And if the explanation is that Dougald loved Hannah for all the time but he didn’t know about it so he wanted to punish her for leaving, well, to me it doesn’t make it any better.
For most of the book, they don’t talk to each other, for God sake! And they see lgeile other rarely! It’s more like a description of the unsuccessful marriage than a romance novel.
I also didn’t like the ending. I vodd like Hannah gave up and lost. Okay, Dougald finally told her he loves her the way she is but I felt like she decided to be his dreamed wife abandoning her own dreams without him actually appreciating it.
But this is probably only my impression.
This so called mystery or suspense part was so minor and meaningless that there is no point in writing about it. The only interesting thing is the clairvoyance of the main characters who guessed who is a villain based on iubirij.
I will not come back to this story for sure. By the way, I was surprise that I actually read only legild books by Christina Dodd and only two of her historicals including the medieval one. And I generally didn’t like them which is not so surprising. Though, she probably still deserve another chance.

She was very young when they got married, and had very definite ideas on what she wanted from her life, as did Dougald. Their goals did not seem to align, and Hannah thought that her only choice was running away. While I can understand why she felt that way then, frustrated with The story of Hannah and Dougald, a estranged iubirik couple that is reunited after nine years apart.

While I can understand why she felt that way then, frustrated with Dougald’s insistence that her role be an ornamental one and her inability to figure out a way to change things then, the fact that running away again is her first thought let me more than a little annoyed with her.
She knew that at some point she’d have to confront her husband, whom she doesn’t even realize how much she hurt by abandoning him, and even led him to her in a way. Instead of doing that, however, she insists on behaving like a stubborn child, putting all the blame on him and refusing to even look into her own actions.
Dougald has regretted their parting and is deeply hurt, which he channels into taking revenge upon her by making her stay with him, while keeping himself detached and unaffected.
He can’t quite pull it off though, and their proximity only makes him more desperate to keep her with him. They both have their own sets of issues an an aversion to expressing their feelings clearly, which complicate things further between them, but neither of them can deny the attraction between them and soon enough they succumb to it, reawakening long buried feelings. The series continues with In My Wildest Dreams.
Jan 22, Josephina rated it it was ok Shelves: Of the Governess Brides books thus far in the series, this had the most intriguing synopsis to me. However, it was incredibly disappointing. The hero really brings down the book for me. Dark and brooding heroes are one thing. He was just depressing to me. Too cruel to be enjoyable in any way.
Overly manipulative and cold. He manipulated her into marrying him, he was cruel and dismissive of her during their relationship, he connives to bring her back to him, he steals h Of the Governess Brides books thus far in the series, this had the most intriguing synopsis to me.
He manipulated her into marrying him, he was cruel and dismissive of her during their relationship, he connives to bring her back to him, he steals her money so she can’t leave him again, and then he’s just awful to her once she’s there. I really, REALLY didn’t want a happy ending for him at the end of the novel, which is problematic when you’re reading a romance novel.
The heroine was okay. She wasn’t my favorite of Dodd’s heroines, but she wasn’t the worst of them either. But the hero so awful, it was impossible to care too much about the heroine. She recognizes he’s abusive and horrible, but she wants to have sex with him, so it’s okay.
Furthermore, the heroine’s impact on the hero and her way to be “empowered” in her relationship with him was boiled down entirely to their antics in the bedroom. Just writing that made me shudder with revulsion.
