Sounds like a great idea. The Butcher Red Wizard Apr 13, Joined Apr 29, Messages 2, Likes 3, Beautiful setting, amazing system. I am seriously psyched about this. Nick J Members Only Apr 13, Joined Sep 25, Messages Likes It’d be great to have another Dbased, professionally done, setting adaptation to pull from. Also want Traveller Prime Directive. I have it in the other universe where Firefly was not cancelled and Ronnie James Dio is still rocking. Raleel Not actually a Mythras sales bot Apr 13, Joined May 15, Messages 1, Likes 1, I’m sure it’s going to be good, mostly because TDM makes great products.

I was really hoping the trilogy was going to be Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox, because we do not have enough mythic china stuff.

Dumarest Vaquero de Alta California Apr 13, Joined Jan 20, Messages 6, Likes 10, I have the books but wasn’t able to get into them. Got them since they were so highly rated and recommended. I was reading the first one and was something like 20 pages in and yawning waiting lyomesse something to happen.

,yonesse have to try again sometime to see why everybody likes them so much. Apocryphal Well-Known Member Apr 13, Joined Aug 19, Messages Likes I shared this on the DM forum as well, but if you want to learn more about this setting and how it might be turned to an RPG, lyonese this a listen – it’s well worth your time, IMO: Voros Doomed Investigator Apr 13, Joined Sep 23, Messages 3, Likes 4, Nick J Members Only Apr 14, But I agree lyonexse Lyonesse stands out among his work because it is emotionally impactful, many of his other books are purposefully chilly in affect.

Raleel Not actually a Mythras sales bot Apr 14, Is his language florid and perhaps even a touch baroque? Joined May 13, Messages 3, Likes 6, Definitely baroque at times, but it’s not flowery rog purple. Joined Aug 12, Messages Likes Vance is flat out my favorite author. I find Vance and Gene Wolfe to have similar styles. Apocryphal Well-Known Member Apr 14, I haven’t read a lot of Wolfe, but I find Vance way more playful.

Latro in the Mist, for those unfamiliar, is about an early Hellenic Greek soldier who sustains a head injury with two pyonesse effects: Voros Doomed Investigator Apr 14, Vance is acknowledged to be a big influence by Wolfe. Particularly on The New Sun.

The Butcher Red Wizard Apr 15, Mankcam Legendary Member Apr 15, Joined Sep 24, Messages Likes 1, Considering it is predominantly just two authors, The Design Mechanism always make a great product. On top of this, Mythras is a pretty solid set of BRP mechanics. Mix all that in with a good setting and this should turn out to be a great product. Raleel Not actually a Mythras sales bot Apr 15, Mankcam Legendary Member Apr 16, I just bought Mythic Constantinople, it looks really great, so hopefully that’s a good sign for Lyonesse.

I like that this RPG will be self-contained for rules. Hopefully they will be easier to understand and implement. Akrasia Well-Known Member Apr 21, Joined Aug 21, Messages 68 Likes Vance’s Lyonesse is one of my all-time favourite fantasy series.

And Mythras is a great system. So I’m really looking forward to this! I just wish it was coming out now Joined Apr 25, Messages 1, Likes 1, That weakness is also one of the strengths of the system, namely that it is open, customizable and flexible.

Mythras needs a setting that really is going lynesse put it through it’s paces by folding, stretching, spindling and if necessary, mutilating it to show its capabilities.

Everything so far has been kind of a setting hand-picked to go well with baseline Mythras, the exception being Luther Arkwright which did need lyoness psionics and firearms rules. So far, Mythras is showing early signs of “Savage Worlds Syndrome” meaning every expression of rgp setting is just the base rules reskinned.

Jack Vance-Themed Lyonesse RPG Coming Next Year

That leads to the setting being sacrificed for the system, a prime example being Savage Rifts. It’s a great game, but it ain’t Rifts. Spoiler Sean Patrick Fannon needed to have a little less mechanical skill and be a little more unhinged to handle Rifts. IF the standard of setting presentation matches Mythic Britain or Mythic Iceland, I could care less if the system is the same.

Lyonesse RPG (Jack Vance)

Those are supplements useful for any system. Raleel Not actually a Mythras sales bot Apr 21, Apocryphal Well-Known Member Apr 22, I would like to see a higher production value for Lyonesse, I hope this is on the cards.
